RogLab is a public digital fabrication laboratory which gives access to modern tools of fabrication to people of all ages.
It is housed in a container by the river Ljubljanica, which flows through the center of the city.
We were welcomed by Tomo, the workshop manager, François the project manager of Fab Lab Net, a European funded project and Meta who is the Head of RogLab.
What is cool about this place is that although the smallest in size (30m2) this is a fully functional manufacture lab with a range of well used machines by its visitors. There are two laser cutters, 5 3d printers, a 3 axis cnc machine, a vinyl cutter, a 3d scanner, hand tools and electronics. In this space a projection screen can come down and separate the machine space to an educational space with table and stools during workshops or talks taking place.
This is a creative hub offering workshops and mentored or individual use of machines to its members. It is a pilot project for the forthcoming Rog Centre which used to be a bicycle factory and now a squat.
Having met the team in this summer’s Fab Lab conference, I was happy to meet them again in their small space that makes great projects.
